Associations 101

If you are new to association management and are trying to wrap your head around the industry, the Associations 101 course is a great place to start. The goal of the Associations 101 course is to provide a broad understanding of the nuances associated with working in the world of membership-based, nonprofit associations.

Facilitated by Bob Waller, Jr, CAE, this half-day session will walk you through what it looks like to be part of an association's staff, working with volunteers, understanding the governance structure, and how processes are unique when it comes to the way an association functions.

Course content includes:

  • The basics of association governance models
  • Working with volunteers
  • Association decision making process

Those that would benefit most from the course are individuals with less than two or three years working with a membership-based association. The course is also beneficial as a refresher and has proven to be idea-generating for those with more experience in the industry.
